A huge little secret.

Listening to our pets crying is a clear sign of problems, but what happens when, instead, they show no signs of discomfort whatsoever? For example, this cheeky smile belongs to Daisy, a Yorkie on her most recent visit to DogLover Animal Hospital.

Daisy's adoptive parents noticed she had seemed calmer than usual for the last couple of days. Although at 14 years old that is nothing to write home about, when you combine that with some tremors, visiting the vet doesn't seem like a bad idea.

During the physical exam we detected a structure in her abdomen that clearly shouldn't be there, so we decided to take a couple of x-rays.

The images seemed to suggest that this was a case of neoplasia. In any case, it was clear that Daisy would have to be sent to surgery as soon as possible.

We performed an exploratory laparotomy and removed the structure.

Seeing it in the images was one thing, but having it face-to-face was a completely different one: about 4 inches long and 2 pounds of weight!

Her being unusually quiet was no surprise, really.

After the surgery, Daisy was able to go home to await the results of the histopathological study.
